Book Review: "Such a Pretty Fat" by Jen Lancaster
Since Jen Lancaster will be coming to Atlanta next month, I decided to finally read her latest book, "Such A Pretty Fat". Jen successfully pitched the proposal for this weight loss memoir to her publisher before actually losing any weight. She believed the obligation to write this book would serve as the motivation she needed to finally adopt a healthier lifestyle. At least, as the following chapter title stated, “It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time”. Anybody who has been on a diet can relate to the trials and tribulations Jen encountered while pursuing her weight loss goal. The author did a good job, for the most part, of narrating her quest to eat less and move more. I found her egocentrism and whining in the beginning of the book to be distracting (and at times it was downright uninspiring). Despite this, I continued reading and was delighted to be a witness to just how much Jen had matured as an individual through her pursuit to wellness. In losing weight, Jen managed to find herself. I would recommend this hilarious memoir to anyone looking for a light-hearted, entertaining read.
