Book Review: "I'll Make You An Offer You Can't Refuse" by Michael Franzese

I have read many books on starting and running a business. I chose to review this book expecting much of the same information as I had read before, but with an entertaining delivery. Franzese delivers some practical business tips focused on success and failure, but with a common sense approach.

This book is for the street-smart entrepreneur, not the college grad or the corporate guru gone solo. The straight talk linguistics is geared to the street-smart person who has adopted “the hustle” as his repertoire. Don’t misunderstand! This book does not promote, nor speak to the guy that wants to start or build in illegitimate business. It is merely written in a way that can reach that street smart individual and turn him into a knowledgeable business man with a plan!

Whether or not you agree with Franzese’s line of work, he was successful and smart. Many of his approaches are common in Corporate America. He’s also very knowledgeable about current events and understands how some well-known corporate executives succeeded or failed at their ventures. It’s obvious he didn’t walk around with blinders one. He was very conscious of the business world around him.

It was a little disappointing to tread through so many famous quotes. Clearly, it was the author’s way of making his point. But again, with the right audience, those quotes will be memorable. The book is only 150 pages. I recommend you pick it up if you just want to get to the point and grasp the essentials.
