Book Review Policy

This service is a voluntary effort by two dedicated readers – Traci and Libby - who love to share their passion with authors and readers. We are more than happy to accept review copies and catalogs from authors and publishers, participate in blog tours, and conduct author interviews.

To get an idea of the types of quality reviews we write and what you can expect from us, check out the side bar tag labeled "book review".

What do we like to read? As prolific readers we review adult fiction and non-fiction. We both enjoy reading contemporary fiction, literary fiction, memoirs, mysteries, thrillers, and science fiction.

Traci is impartial to true crime, urban literature, and books set in foreign countries (particularly Africa, Asia, and France). She also enjoys business (particularly books on finance, leadership & management, and careers) and non-fiction involving social issues, parenting, and families. She will consider select inspirational books.

Libby is impartial to historical fiction, holocaust books, and books set in foreign countries (particularly Europe and Asia). She also enjoys non-fiction involving behavioral science, medicine, and technology. She will consider select religion and spirituality books.

What do we not like to read? We normally do not read romance, chick-lit, poetry (with the exception of free verse novels), urban fantasy, paranormal or erotica.

Do we read e-books or self published books? We currently do not accept e-books or PDF’s for review. We are very much open to self-published books.

What can you expect from us? Our acceptance of a review copy does not guarantee a written review. Please note, if we finish reading a book, we will write a review. If we read more than half of a book before discontinuing it, we will write a synopsis followed by a semi-review with reasons why we could not finish it. All reviews—positive or negative—will be fair. We write honest reviews that we feel help our readers select quality books for their reading enjoyment. Each review will be complete with a detailed synopsis and personal commentary about the book, as well as an image of the book cover, link to author’s website, and link to buy the book. We will post reviews on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, but only upon request.

When will we review a book? We do our best to read review titles in a timely manner, but may require extra time on certain selections. If the book is an ARC, we will review it within a month of its release date. If the book is already published, we will read and review it within 2-4 months. We typically maintain a book review lag of 2 months. The only exceptions are blog tours and author interviews. We prioritize these reviews because they must post on a specified date. We typically post 4-6 reviews per month.

Compensation. We do not receive any monetary compensation for writing reviews. Compensation received on this blog from Google Ads are absorbed into giveaways, postage fees, hosting fees, and registration costs of book industry festivals and conferences.

Traffic Details. We have a considerable amount of monthly traffic on our blog. As of January 2010, this blog receives 3,100 visitors a month and maintains a Google Page Rank of 1. Additionally, we have 80+ RSS subscribers and are notably connected to social networks including Twitter (1200+ followers), Facebook, and Book Blog Ning. We also keep active profiles at Blog Catalog, Technorati and Alexa.
