Water Cooler Wednesday: What's the hot topic of the book you're reading?
Every Wednesday we will be discussing the HOT TOPICS of the books we are currently reading. Chime in and let us know! Feel free to quote a line or two to make your point.
I'm reading "The Crying Tree" by Naseem Rakha and one of the many hot topic of this book is forgiveness. Could you forgive the man who killed your son/daughter?
It takes a great deal of maturity and an open heart and mind with God for the strength to get to that level of forgiveness. My knee jerk reaction is no. Overtime I think it's possible if you wish to move on with your own life.
I'm reading "Lost Letter" by Neil Mulligan and the first topic that pops out is career advancement for women. Should women want to break up all boys club once she gets to the top? Are the stakes too high? It's obvious you create enemies along the way.
There was a time when I thought that women should stay put but it took a woman that broke up a boys club (at my place of employment), that made me think otherwise. She does a great job. I expected her to add her emotion and run with it...and she did..but just the right amount...women and financial planning go hand in hand I guess.
Regarding forgiveness, I agree with Trig. Forgiveness is possible and necessary for you to move on with your life. Here's a quote from "The Crying Tree" of the mother who lost her son talking to the man who murdered him. "Hating you, Mr. Robbin, wanting to see you dead, and wanting to be there while it happened, has been all I've lived for these past years...It has not led me to where I need to go." (pg. 126)

I want to add one more thing...I would never forgive the person that took away my son...accident or no accident
