BOOK REVIEW & GIVEAWAY: Candice Dow releases FEELIN' THE VIBE

What do you do when your true love resurfaces 10 years later after you have settled into your new life?

That’s the issue Devin and Clark faced when their paths crossed during Devin’s Congressional campaign.

Devin is a successful legal consultant who had only been married for six months. He had heard rumors of a Maryland Congressman retiring and saw his life dream come true. He jumped at the opportunity to seek that Congressional seat and serve the citizens of his state. However, Devon waited two weeks before mentioning it to Taylor, his wife. He faced immediate rejection and turmoil after he informed her one night before he was set to announce his candidacy. Taylor’s world crashed when she realized that she would have to share her new husband with everyone leaving no room for travel and intimate connections. She made it very hard for Devin to garner her support for the congressional seat. As time passed, she gave in little by little but not soon enough to remind him of why he married her.

Clark and her husband, Kenneth have been trying for years to have a baby. After several failed procedures, Clark announces that she no longer wants to try to birth a child and would rather adopt. Kenneth, a therapist, is vehemently against the idea since he witnessed firsthand the damage goods of an adopted child. Kenneth shuts down all communication and intimacy with Clark leaving her to forget why she married him in the first place.

Devin and Clark find themselves in a passionate twist of love, lust and confusion over their personal commitments with their spouses. Will they choose each other or their spouses?

You may not have found yourself in this situation but you know of someone who has and that makes it relatable to the reader.  Aside from a few editorial errors, this was a good story and a fast read. The author could have developed stronger characters with Devin and Clark. The strength of their love, upon which the  the synopsis of the story was based, seemed to be missing. At times, the dramatic events of the story easily overpowered the passion of the characters. However, this novel was a follow-up to a prior novel, Caught in the Mix, where the foundation of that love may have already been laid. I do recommend Feelin’ The Vibe because it does give life to new conversations for book clubs on relationships, infidelity, self-identity and commitment.
