~BOOK REVIEW~

Here's a story about Liz Robertson, mom to 14-year old Justin, a passionate soccer player. Liz owns an event planning business that encounters financial troubles caused by a lack of leadership. She ignores rectifying the situation until it begins to cause a rift in her relationship with Justin.

Soccer season begins and while attending soccer practice, Liz learns important strategies from Justin’s soccer as he guides the players. She later realizes that those tips could be used as business strategies to bring her business back to life.

Lord carefully weaves these business strategies within a fictional story. When it comes to finding books on entrepreneurship, you will usually find books on how to get started or books dealing with leadership and management in a broad sense. Lord's approach was practical and relatable. I'm willing to bet that if you had to remember a business strategy, it would be easy to recall it from this story instead of an outline. I recommend this book because it teaches logical business strategies for a failing business, a stage of business not readily addressed. You also get a great story that highlights the importance of family while running a business – your business.

This book sounds interesting. Does Liz's business become successful?

Liz does a great deal of exploring and the things she realizes about herself and her business leads her to make decisions that ultimately improve her life. Without giving away too many of the specifics, Liz and her business are better off at the end of the book, then at the beginning.

Hope you'll be joining us this evening at 8:30 EST when I will be guest on Catch That Book Radio.
