Pedophilia, The Nook, Borders

The Sarcastic and Perturbed Part of the Book Industry News

So, let's take a look into this week's book news.....

I'M DONE WITH YOU ADULTS!
Yesterday, CNN reported that the author of the pedophilia book  plead no contest in exchange for 2 years probation.

So, just say you did it and we'll let you maintain your freedom but we're going to keep an eye on you. Really?  He sold the book online with his autograph! I give him credit for understanding the role of an author.  I suppose EVERY book has an audience. But be a smart dummy and don't mess with kids. Dude, almost everyone has one! The probation is limited to Florida. So, I won't be surprised if he pops up in another state!

THIS IS GONNA GET UGLY NY TIMES!
TechCrunch reported Nook subscribers will be able to access NYTimes.com for free. It is their bestselling Nook newspaper and they are offering free access to Kindle users. I hope this isn't a sign of favoritism??? But really, NY Times, subscribers have already paid for convenience so hurry it along!

REMEMBER ME? THE CUSTOMER?
Borders Borders Borders! If only you issued a consumer survey. We the People would have told you about the need for a better selection, more seating, the misplacement of the coffee bar, and the lack of events that should have brought us in the door. I won't say anything about your loyalty program.  But I'm not a fan of use or lose by the end of the month.  The Publishers Weekly.com reports that Publishers are skeptical about your new reorganization plan.  The fact that you are "very optimistic" doesn't sit well with them. While you are shutting down stores, we should be seeing a big campaign to push consumers to borders.com. But...Alas...you fade...and we forget.
