Blood Feud picks up were Hearts at Stake, the first book in the Drake Chronicles, left off. Helena’s coronation as the new vampire queen is underway. Trouble is brewing and Leander Montmartre’s need for power is behind it all. Isabeau is ready to confront the one that left her for dead after turning her into a creature of the night. Love is in the air as Isabeau meets Logan.

I wasn’t as excited with this installment as I was with Hearts at Stake. Changing the focus of the story from the intriguing main characters (Solange, Lucy, Keiran, and Nicholas) to the side characters is something I didn’t see coming. It felt as if the story hadn’t continued as a series, but had, in fact, started over. The only common factor was the continuation of the plot itself. Isabeau and Logan were great, don’t get me wrong, but they just didn’t have the spark the others had.

Harvey’s writing style is enough to keep you involved in the characters and the forming relationships as the plot moves forward. The world building is fantastic, giving the reader a clear image of the characters and their environment.

Overall, I am still dying to find out what happens next for the Drake’s. Harvey’s unique twist on the vampire world is refreshing. Blood Feud is a great paranormal read that’s sure to be enjoyed by those who like reading paranormal or urban fantasy genres.
